In 2000 with our tenth anniversary approaching, the management team at Ritz took a look at the future of Columbus. What we saw excited us. Columbus is on plan to double over the next ten years, and we wanted to be a part of that growth. Yet, how... We spent over six months analyzing all forms of food distribution; from restaurants to captive food service operations inside of hospitals and prisons. The area that we discovered that was still stuck in the 1940's was vending.

The opportunity we discovered was in the quality of food being offered by the local conventional vending operators. Candidly, it was less than appetizing. We knew we could do better. It was at that point we decided to move into vending (or as we call it -- convenience catering.)

We started with our catering recipes and modified them for vending. We purchased a food packaging system and then went looking for our first account. Imagine our feelings when we secured the convenience catering (vending) contract for the Columbus Health Department's new home at East Main and South Parsons Ave. 400 employees! All of which are in health or food service in some way! Wow. Did we get off to a great start with their help and encouragement.

Today we are pleased to serve quite a few more than 400 employees and guests at a variety of locations. Even The Mayor of Columbus enjoys Ritz Fresh in his break room!
